The impact of online marketing PT.1
With its phenomenal growth, Internet marketing is no longer practiced by large corporate business. I aim to highlight the opportunities that are implemented everyday by businesses and show you how it can deliver a substantial return.
Advertising online is growing faster more than any other form of advertising because of its infinite use of techniques available - e-mail, contextual ads, banner ads, pop-ups, social bookmarking and the list rapidly grows everyday.
In 2006, according to a research report by an internet consultancy, online advert expenditure exceeded £2 billion with a growth rate every year of 45 percent which is an additional £1.69 billion reached in 2007. But what is shocking is that Googles dominancy has contriubuted 60 percent to search engine marketing.
It is clear to see that businesses online have ventured into considerable opportunities from being internet based. What makes search engine marketing so effective is that companies of any size medium or small, can be noticed upon the highly recognized global giants.
Creating your first blogging account
My name is Hayden Cutsforth as you may or may not already know, I’ve started blogging for about 3 months. This post is written to show you the basics on how to create your first ever blogging account.
Nowadays millions of people are earning automatic incomes through advertising on their blog. At first when you hear of making money online you might be put off by the thought of technical knowledge, or you may see these opportunities as a scam by money hungry affiliates.
Building your first blog
The first thing you have to decide before creating your blog is who is going to host your blog or are you going to settle for a free blog which has a sub domain. The choice is entirely up to you after all, here are my opinions.
Blogger is the easier option, it provides you a free web log which allows you to publish your own text, pictures and videos. It also lets you share your blog with in the blogger community. Blogging is about more than just putting your thoughts on the Web. It is about connecting with and hearing from anyone who reads your work and cares to respond. Blogger enables you to control who can read and write to your blog — allow just a few friends or the entire world to see what you have to say.

Wordpress is even more powerful if you have your own self hosted blog. Some of the limitations with free blogging stops you from uploading your own site templates and isn’t as better than having your own domain name. However, I would recommend Wordpress for more experienced bloggers.
To get your free Wordpress account you’ll need to click here
Now before I carry on any further I want to let you know that I am not the one to blame if you buy hosting and expect to make alot of cash in your first few months. 99.9% of bloggers only make profit if they dedicate themselves to their blog, “Content is king.” the first aim before monetizing your blog is to develop an audience and receive traffic before you start experimenting with advertising.
Most people who are too caught up in building a blog to make money miss the whole concept of blogging.
Writing frequent posts and commenting on other blogs in your niche.
If hosting provides a “wordpress one click install” then you will not require to install it manually, here is a link for wordpress recommended hosting companies.
If you want to make a professional self hosted blog then the main priority now is to decide what you want to blog about which many people struggle with this. Think of any subject you could write about easily or pick a topic you feel strong about. The thing that makes blogging dull is having to write articles that you do not enjoy writing. You could consider starting a blog for any of the following:
Beauty Tips
Business
Cars
Animals
Cooking
How to build a website
Video Blog
Accessories
Clothing
Computers
Education
Technology
Sports
Music
Celebrities
This choice is endless on what you can write about. So once you have decided what your blog’s purpose is you can purchase a domain name and hosting package.

To install wordpress you could just read a quick guide to get your wordpress installed in under 5 minutes.

I meant to have this out to you on Wednesday last week after I recorded it, since the prior evening I attended a Third Tuesday meet-up in Toronto, which was the inspiration for the podcast. However, you see, I bought a new macbook pro.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my new mac, but this is my first mac and since I recorded the podcast on the mac there was a BIG learning curve to figure out how to get it ready for publication on this blog. As you will hear, it’s not quite right, but the message is definitely clear enough to enjoy. Apologies for the change in volume and odd shuffling noises.
How Do You Measure Social Media?
This Third Tuesday meet-up was a good one, the topic being - How do we measure social media? - with three expert panelists (Katie Paine, Marshall Sponder and Marcel Lebrun) taking questions from the audience made up of mostly PR and communications professionals, and related consultants and small business owners.
The idea of measuring the impact of social media is akin to measuring the effect of branding. Social media, much like branding, is often difficult to directly correlate with a business outcome, despite it obviously having a big impact on business results. I won’t go into here since I do so in some depth in the podcast, so have a listen!
If you are a blogger, a business owner or a person interested in the business side of social media, you will enjoy this rambling podcast.
Thanks to Joseph Thornley and his crew for putting on a great meet-up.
Show Notes
- Introduction to the Third Tuesday event
- What we mean when talking about measuring social media
- What this means for bloggers
- Why it’s the conversation that matters most, not the influencer
- No industry wide standards for measuring social media are available
- Not many people are actively measuring, only monitoring
- There is an opportunity to provide a database of influential sites ranked by social media analysis
- Use social media to assess how your competition is perceived and use that information to compete
- Consulting firms providing social media data mining services
- What changes to ad budget spending at companies means for bloggers
- Why being an influencer in any niche is so important

Product Launch Video Case Study - The Sales Page
With my new Macbook Pro I have some sophisticated video tools available and I’m not afraid to use them - so be warned!
As many of you know, I’m reopening Blog Mastermind hopefully in just a couple of weeks time. What this means is a ton of work for me to get things ready.
Entrepreneurs-Journey.com has always been about sharing the behind-the-scenes details of my business with you, so I’m going to do a series of video posts talking about exactly what I am working on for the relaunch of Blog Mastermind. I prefer to teach through what I am doing rather than talking about theories and observations without practical experience.
This is a real live case study of a real live product launch, so if launching a product of your own using your blog (or not) is something that interests you, stay tuned, you will enjoy my upcoming videos. You might want to subscribe to my RSS feed if you haven’t already to make sure you don’t miss any.
Note since this is a case study you will get the good with the bad. My launches are far from perfect and there is room for improvement. Also since my video skills are still underdeveloped I apologize for any production issues - I’d rather get something out to you than kill myself trying to make it perfect. No doubt I’ll get better with practice too
.
Case Study Video 1: Talking About The Sales Page
Here’s the first video of the case study talking about what I’m working on right now - the sales page - Enjoy!
I should have the next video out to you tomorrow.

Video: What System Should Run Your Affiliate Program?
If you want instant notice when these videos go live, please subscribe to my Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/yarostarak) as I’ll post updates about the case study there too.
Here’s the next installment of the product launch live video case study. Today I’m discussing what scripts and services I considered when looking for a system to run my affiliate program.
If you are thinking about setting up an affiliate program for your product or service so other people can promote what you provide, take 7 minutes from your day and watch this video.
This video is also the first to feature the cuckoo clock - it’s worth watching just for that
- Enjoy!
